Influential All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Rivers State and ally of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has stirred political discourse by asserting that President Bola Tinubu may not seek reelection in 2027, citing both internal and external pressures.
In a statement widely circulated in the media, Eze pointed to speculation surrounding a purported file on Tinubu allegedly held by the United States government, suggesting its release could dramatically alter the 2027 political landscape.
Amaechi as a Presidential Hopeful
Eze, who served as the former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), emphasized the growing calls from Nigerians urging Rotimi Amaechi former Minister of Transportation and two-term Governor of Rivers State to declare his intentions for the 2027 presidential race.
He said, “On a daily basis, I receive inquiries from Nigerians across all regions, asking about Amaechi’s political plans. There’s genuine interest in seeing him contest, given the current administration’s lack of direction and failure to address the country’s worsening economic and security crises.”
Criticism of the Tinubu Administration
Eze did not mince words in criticizing the Tinubu administration, stating that the government is more focused on retaining power by manipulation than delivering on its democratic mandate.
“A government that is fixated on manipulating its way into a second term, while the economy collapses and citizens go hungry, has no moral right to seek reelection. This isn’t leadership, and it certainly isn’t democracy,” he stated.
According to Eze, widespread insecurity, inflation, hunger, and systemic failure under the current government have left Nigerians desperate for a credible alternative, and many see Amaechi as a potential rescuer.
Amaechi’s Public Service Legacy
Describing Amaechi as “a pride to Nigeria,” Eze said his leadership record makes him a natural fit for the presidency.
“Nigeria needs statesmen with integrity, courage, and the willingness to serve. Amaechi embodies all these traits. His previous sacrifices for national development speak volumes,” Eze added.
He insisted that Amaechi would be willing to make personal sacrifices to restore Nigeria’s stability and development, positioning him as a strategic solution to the nation’s precarious state.
Tinubu’s 2027 Fate Uncertain
Eze concluded by predicting a dramatic political shift ahead of the 2027 elections.
“2027 will be full of surprises. Tinubu may not even be in a position to contest the very election he’s strategizing to influence. If the U.S. makes good on its promise to reveal the alleged dossier on the President, it could change everything,” he warned.
