In a major political realignment ahead of the Anambra State 2025 gubernatorial election, Bonaventure Enemali, a former Commissioner for Lands and Youth in the state, has officially defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made during a strategic political gathering held in Nzam, Enemali’s hometown and political base. Addressing supporters and APC stakeholders, Enemali pledged his full support to the APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, whom he described as a “visionary leader with the capacity to deliver inclusive and sustainable development in Anambra State.”
Enemali Backs Ukachukwu, Tinubu for 2027
Speaking passionately, Enemali stressed that his defection was not merely a partisan move, but one grounded in his commitment to credible leadership, transparency, and progress-oriented governance.
“This is not just a political move. It is a decision rooted in deep conviction and the desire to see our state truly prosper. I also express my unreserved support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027,” Enemali declared.
Strategic Boost for APC Ahead of November Election
The defection is widely perceived as a strategic win for the APC, especially as preparations intensify for the November 2025 governorship election in Anambra. Enemali’s entrance into the party is expected to bring renewed energy to the APC’s campaign structure due to his strong grassroots network, previous government experience, and youth mobilization capabilities.
Political analysts suggest that Enemali’s defection could influence undecided voters and party loyalists still weighing their options.
APC Welcomes Enemali, Eyes More High-Profile Defections
Top APC leaders in Anambra have warmly welcomed Enemali’s move, describing it as a significant milestone in the party’s efforts to reposition itself as a dominant political force in the state.
Party chieftains also expressed optimism that more influential political figures will join the APC, aligning with the vision of rebuilding Anambra through pragmatic and people-focused governance.
With Bonaventure Enemali’s defection, the APC gains not just a prominent figure but also an opportunity to deepen its political outreach. As the 2025 election approaches, the battle for Anambra’s future is clearly heating up, and all eyes are on how each party consolidates its base.
