The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide and the family of Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro have vehemently denied and condemned reports circulating on social media suggesting that the prominent Ohanaeze chieftain has passed away in France.
Mazi Isiguzoro, who serves as the factional Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, was falsely reported by a blog to have died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in France.
In a strongly worded joint press statement issued on Sunday, both the Ohanaeze Youth Council and the Isiguzoro family described the rumour as “satanic” and an act of desperation by mischief-makers aiming to tarnish the image of the respected leader.
“He Is Alive and Well” – Ohanaeze Youths
Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, while addressing the media, reaffirmed that Isiguzoro is alive, healthy, and continuing with his duties.
“Let me state categorically that Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, is alive, hale and hearty,” Okwu said.
He accused detractors of deliberately spreading falsehood for sinister purposes and warned that such individuals would not escape the consequences of their actions.
“The evil they wish for others will return to them. This is nothing but a failed attempt to distract and demoralize. I urge the public to completely disregard this wicked and baseless fabrication,” he added.
Isiguzoro Family Issues Stern Warning
Also responding to the rumour, Dr. Chiedozie Isiguzoro (Dozzy), who spoke on behalf of the Isiguzoro family of Obingwa LGA in Abia State, issued a detailed statement rejecting the claims and reaffirming that their son is not only alive but recovering well, albeit in a confidential location.
“The family of Isiguzoro Onyike Okereke Enyi is compelled to address the wholly unfounded and malicious reports concerning the supposed demise of our esteemed son, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro,” the statement began.
“We categorically refute all claims that he is receiving treatment or has died at Hospital Ranguiel Toulouse in France. These lies are nothing but a product of envy and deliberate mischief.”
They went further to emphasize that those behind the misinformation would face the consequences of their actions.
“Mazi Isiguzoro will personally attend the memorial services of the very people who orchestrated this falsehood. He will sign their condolence registers as a symbol of his moral ascendancy over their treachery,” the family stated.
Legal Action on the Horizon
The Isiguzoro family warned that any further attempts to spread defamatory claims against Mazi Okechukwu would result in swift and firm legal action.
“We will not tolerate further attacks on our son’s character. Any future attempt to propagate lies against him will be met with legal consequences, as we intend to pursue full justice under the law to defend our family’s name and honour.”
Appreciation to the Igbo Community
The statement concluded with a message of appreciation to all who have shown support to the family.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Igbo community and our many well-wishers who have shown unwavering solidarity during this period. Your prayers and support in confronting these false narratives have brought strength to our family.”
