Davido Will Become Governor Of Osun State - Ben Murray-Bruce

Former senator and media mogul Ben Murray-Bruce has expressed strong belief that internationally acclaimed Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, could one day emerge as the Governor of Osun State.

In a recent episode of his thought-leadership series “Common Sense,” Murray-Bruce delved into the artist’s background, suggesting that Davido’s influence and political lineage position him as a serious contender for public office.

“David Adeleke, the global phenomenon we all know as Davido, is more than just a musician. He is a cultural ambassador and one of Nigeria’s most powerful exports to the world. But beyond the glitz of stardom, there’s a politically conscious individual with a deep understanding of governance,” Murray-Bruce said.

A Strong Political Bloodline

Murray-Bruce noted that Davido’s political aspirations should not come as a surprise, given the Adeleke family’s long-standing involvement in Osun State politics.

  • His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, having won the governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
  • Another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, made history as the first civilian governor of Osun State and also served as a senator before his death.

These family ties, according to Murray-Bruce, offer Davido a solid political foundation should he ever choose to follow in their footsteps.

“A Political Animal with Ideological Leanings”

Recounting a private conversation with the artist, Murray-Bruce revealed that Davido described himself as a “political animal,” hinting at a deeper interest in Nigeria’s political future.

“He’s not just involved in politics because of family ties. He has his own ideology, his own beliefs. He pays attention, he participates, and he cares. Those are rare qualities,” he said.

Davido has shown this inclination in the past, using his platform to support candidates during elections and speak out on national issues, particularly those affecting Nigerian youth.

From Stage to State House?

Murray-Bruce suggested that if Davido decides to enter the political arena and is strategic about it, his path to becoming a future governor is entirely possible.

“With the right guidance, commitment, and support, Davido could successfully transition from music icon to political leader. He already has the popularity, the name recognition, and a powerful grassroots base—especially among the youth,” Murray-Bruce argued.

He concluded his remarks with a bold prediction:

“Davido, if you run, I predict you will win.”

Public Reaction and the Bigger Picture

While Davido has yet to confirm any concrete political ambitions, this endorsement from a respected public figure like Ben Murray-Bruce has reignited discussions about the evolving role of celebrities in Nigerian politics.

As a new generation of voters emerges—one that is highly influenced by pop culture, digital platforms, and activism—the idea of entertainers stepping into leadership roles is becoming less far-fetched.

Whether Davido will make the leap from music charts to ballot boxes remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: he already has the spotlight—and potentially, the public’s trust.
