During a Wednesday appearance on Channels Television, Reno Omokri—who is widely recognized for his outspoken criticism of opposition leaders, notably Peter Obi of the Labour Party—dismissed claims that his endorsement of President Tinubu stems from any financial arrangement. He made it clear that his support is independent of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“So who was paying me between 2025 and 2023 when I was traveling for matters concerning Nigeria?” Omokri asked rhetorically.

He emphasized that his actions are not driven by party loyalty or personal benefit, but by a deep sense of national responsibility.

“Why would anyone pay me? I’m doing this not just out of admiration for Tinubu, but out of love for Nigeria,” he stated.

As an example, Omokri disclosed that he personally funded a fact-finding mission to Lagos to verify reports about the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.

“I’m currently in Lagos, even though I don’t reside here,” Omokri explained. “I came because of the misinformation being spread about the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway. I personally purchased my flight ticket, gathered journalists and members of the public—including everyday Nigerians—and used my own funds to buy a drone to verify the project’s progress. I can confirm that the 30-kilometer stretch of the highway is indeed complete.”
