Governors Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and Babagana Zulum of Borno State have expressed that President Bola Tinubu is deserving of a second term, citing the achievements recorded under his administration.
Buni and Zulum made this assertion at the All Progressives Congress (APC) North East Consultative Forum meeting held in Gombe.
Speaking at the gathering, Buni noted that President Tinubu has shown capable leadership by navigating Nigeria through both domestic and international challenges, thereby sustaining the country’s development.
Governor Buni of Yobe State stated that President Tinubu has implemented reforms over the past two years designed to steer Nigeria toward growth and national development.
He emphasized that these policies and programmes need more than a single term to yield lasting results, noting that Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 would be crucial to maintaining and advancing the ongoing reforms for the country’s overall progress.
On the issue of security, Governor Buni highlighted that President Tinubu’s administration has implemented fresh strategies to combat insecurity in the North East.
He noted that these initiatives would enable displaced residents to safely return to their farms, thereby boosting food production and strengthening food security.
“Over the past two years, President Tinubu has rolled out bold reforms aimed at enhancing the well-being of Nigerians,” Buni remarked.
On the security front, Governor Buni noted that the Tinubu administration has implemented fresh strategies to address insecurity in the North East.
According to him, these efforts are aimed at creating a safe environment that will enable displaced residents to return to their farms, thereby improving food production and ensuring greater food security.
“In the past two years, President Tinubu’s government has introduced bold reforms aimed at bettering the lives of Nigerians,” Buni said.
He acknowledged that although the reforms have brought about difficulties and challenges, they also bring with them a renewed sense of hope for a better future.
“These initiatives demand thorough strategic planning and adequate time, and one term may not be enough to see them fully realized.
“For these policies to yield sustainable outcomes, a second term might be necessary to ensure their proper and effective implementation,” Buni added.
Buni urged residents of the North East to continue backing the federal government and security forces in their efforts to achieve enduring peace in the region.
He also appealed to the APC North East Forum to formally endorse President Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election to ensure the completion of the administration’s developmental agenda.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, also praised President Tinubu’s initiatives in addressing insecurity in the North East.
Zulum highlighted that the administration’s efforts are gradually restoring peace in the region, with tangible results now emerging.
He echoed Buni’s appeal for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, emphasizing the need to sustain progress across multiple sectors nationwide.
