The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the construction of the Mabushi Bus and Taxi Terminal will help eradicate the ‘one chance’ criminal activities in Abuja.
Wike stated that the Mabushi terminal, along with other terminals awaiting commissioning, would improve security by minimizing the number of vehicles operating on the roads.
He made this known during the commissioning ceremony of the newly completed Mabushi Bus Terminal in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Minister announced that three more bus and taxi terminals are planned for construction in 2025, with one each to be located in Gwagwalada, Bwari, and Kuje.
Wike stated, “Our goal is to eliminate the ‘one chance’ syndrome, where unsuspecting commuters fall victim to attacks by unidentified drivers.
”Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Transportation, Said Alkali, commended Wike for completing the project, describing it as a “landmark achievement.”
Alkali noted that once fully operational, the terminals would stimulate economic activity and improve transportation across the capital city.
He stated, “They will also serve as a vital platform to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which prioritizes transportation as a key focus.
”The Minister also urged stakeholders in the transport sector to fully harness the potential of the terminal, emphasizing that such utilization would motivate the government to further invest in initiatives that enhance public welfare.
Alkali further revealed that President Bola Tinubu has approved the construction of six bus terminals, with one to be established in each of the six geopolitical zones of the country.
According to him, the terminals will be located in Abeokuta, Ogun State (South West); Onitsha, Anambra State (South East); Warri, Delta State (South South); Lokoja, Kogi State (North Central); Gombe, Gombe State (North East); and Kano, Kano State (North West).

He noted that once fully operational, the terminal will run 24-hour services for both intercity and intracity transportation and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Regarding security, Elechi revealed that 45 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been strategically installed throughout the terminal to ensure safety.
