
The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the defacing of a campaign billboard featuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s image, in connection with the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The incident comes after a viral video emerged showing a group of youths pulling down the billboard in Kano.
The footage has raised public alarm and attracted strong condemnation from officials.In a statement, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Hussaini Abdullahi, labelled the act as criminal and a potential threat to public order. He confirmed that the command has initiated a thorough investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
“The destruction of any public or private property is a grave offence, and anyone found responsible will face prosecution in line with the law,” the statement emphasized.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, called on residents to remain peaceful and avoid actions that could disrupt public order. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and enforcing the law throughout the state.
The police further warned that any future incidents of vandalism would be met with strict legal repercussions.
