The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has urged newly recruited officers currently undergoing training at the Police Training School in Nekede, Owerri, to adhere strictly to the ethical standards of the profession to promote citizen-friendly policing.
The Police Commissioner delivered the charge during a working visit to the institution to evaluate the training progress of the newly recruited officers.
He explained that the visit was in compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu, who mandated supervisory visits to police training institutions nationwide.
During the visit, the Commissioner of Police was welcomed with a parade by the Sentry Guard before addressing a total of 264 recruits drawn from Imo and Abia States.
Reaffirming his commitment to capacity development, CP Danjuma announced that senior police officers in the state with academic expertise in Law, Psychology, Criminology, and other relevant policing disciplines would be periodically assigned to the training school to elevate the quality of instruction to the highest standards.
During his visit, the Commissioner was welcomed with a parade by the Sentry Guard before addressing 264 recruits from Imo and Abia States. He urged them to take their training seriously, remain disciplined, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, in line with the Inspector General of Police’s vision for a service-oriented, law-abiding, professionally competent, and community-focused Nigeria Police Force.

He inspected the hostels, classrooms, and kitchen facilities, expressing satisfaction with the level of cleanliness and orderliness. He also commended the Commandant of the institution, ACP Suleiman Shuaibu, and his team for their commitment to maintaining discipline and a conducive learning environment.
The Police Commissioner took time to interact with both male and female recruits, who expressed gratitude for the seamless training process and his motivational visit.
As part of his support for their welfare, CP Danjuma donated 10 bags of rice, a cow, and gallons of cooking oil to supplement their feeding.
Representing the state governor, the Chief Security Officer to the Governor, CSP Shaba Gboyako Adamu, assured the recruits of the state government’s unwavering support throughout the duration of their training.
