There are strong indications that Taraba State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, may soon be replaced due to a prolonged illness that has kept him away from office for more than nine months.
Several sources within the Taraba State House of Assembly and top government circles have confirmed that lawmakers are backing the current Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Hamman Adama, as the likely replacement for Alhaji Aminu Alkali.
Although formal impeachment or replacement proceedings have not yet begun, a senior official disclosed that consultations are underway to trigger the constitutional process for Alkali’s removal.
“The deputy governor has been bedridden for months. We can no longer afford to operate without a fully active deputy in such a critical role,” a source disclosed.
However, the state government has refuted the claims.
Emmanuel Bello, the Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas on Media and Digital Communication, described the speculation as unfounded and lacking merit.
