Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has called out young Nigerians, especially men, for using age as a means to insult others.
In a video posted on her social media, Henshaw slammed the frequent habit of mocking women by labeling them as “old,” calling it a tired and disrespectful tactic that reveals ignorance and a lack of maturity.
The actress called out the hypocrisy behind the trend, highlighting the irony that many who insult others over their age are often the same people who wish for long life in birthday messages.Kate further emphasized that ageing is a privilege not granted to everyone, stressing that those who ridicule others for growing older clearly lack an understanding of life’s true value.
She said:
“It’s always the young men. When they want to insult you, the first thing they say is ‘old woman.’ Is that supposed to hurt me?”The actress condemned the hypocrisy of such behaviour, noting the irony that those who use age as an insult are often the same people who wish others long life on their birthdays.
“Nobody can shame me. Ageing is a privilege. The peace and confidence that come with age? That’s true freedom,” she added.
