British broadcaster, Piers Morgan has urged US President Donald Trump to tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the ‘terrible’ conflict in Gaza now.
Morgan made the appeal in a post on his X account on Sunday.
“President @realDonaldTrump, now is the time for you to tell @netanyahu to end this terrible war in Gaza and stop the relentless daily killing of civilians,” Morgan tweeted.
“Only you can do this, and as your friend who knows you despise war, I strongly urge you to act,” he added.
Morgan’s remarks come shortly after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed over the weekend that they had eliminated one of the founding members of Hamas in a joint operation with the Israel Security Agency (ISA).
According to the IDF, Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa, a senior commander in Hamas’ military wing, was killed in an airstrike on Friday in the Sabra area of Gaza City.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been under increasing pressure to end the ongoing conflict, with calls coming from opposition politicians, families of hostages held in Gaza, and even members of his own ruling coalition. The mounting demands follow the October 7, 2023, attack launched by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
However, former U.S. President Donald Trump recently stated that progress is being made toward ending the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, as renewed efforts for a ceasefire gain momentum more than 20 months after the conflict began.
