Arise TV journalist Reuben Abati and his colleagues have challenged former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, following his controversial outburst where he told a TVC presenter to “shut up” during a live interview.
As reported by Gist9ja, the politician’s appearance on TVC News sparked mixed reactions online, particularly due to the abrupt and dismissive manner in which he addressed the interviewer.

Babachir Lawal, when questioned about his stance on the 2019 and 2023 elections during a TVC interview, abruptly cut off the presenter, telling him to “shut up” before continuing with his own remarks.

The incident drew a sharp reaction from Arise TV anchors Reuben Abati, Rufai Oseni, and others, who criticized Lawal’s conduct and challenged him to repeat such behavior on their platform.
Reacting on air, Reuben Abati stated:
“Let Babachir Lawal come here and try that. If he dares to say ‘shut up’ here, the kind of verbal flogging he’ll get—he won’t sleep that night.”
