Former member of the South Korean boy band NCT, Moon Taeil, has been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for sexual assault.
Taeil was indicted on charges of aggravated rape and pleaded guilty, leading to the sentencing on July 10, 2025.
In addition to serving a jail sentence, the court ordered Taeil to complete 40 hours of educational programming focused on sexual violence.
He was also mandated to register as a sex offender within his community and has been barred from working with minors for the next five years.
Taeil, once celebrated for his exceptional vocals and for setting a Guinness World Record in 2021 for the “Fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram,” saw his career take a drastic turn following accusations that he raped an intoxicated Chinese tourist in June 2024.
