Residents of Ipetumodu in Osun State were gripped with fear and anger on Thursday following the tragic discovery of a local farmer, Akeem Jimoh, who was found dead on his farmland near the border between Ipetumodu and Asipa.
Jimoh reportedly left home around 7 a.m. to tend to his farm but never returned. By midday, alarming news began to circulate that he had been killed by unidentified attackers.
A family member, speaking anonymously due to safety concerns, revealed that the case was immediately reported to the Amotekun Corps, which quickly deployed a search team.
“Akeem left for the farm early in the morning. Sadly, by around 12:30 p.m., Amotekun operatives found his lifeless body,” the source recounted.
His corpse was taken to the Ipetumodu Police Division, prompting unrest in the community. Angry residents demanded answers and justice, forcing security operatives to step in and calm the situation.
Confirming the incident, Osun State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed the victim had been stabbed.
“Akeem Jimoh has been formally identified. Reports suggest certain individuals may be connected to the incident,” he said.
SP Ojelabi added that the case has been escalated for further investigation. “Although no arrests have been made yet, the command is determined to bring those responsible to justice.
A thorough investigation is already underway,” he assured.
