The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on Nigerians to reject the emerging opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing its leaders as unpatriotic and lacking a credible record of service.
Speaking at the University of Port Harcourt’s 35th Combined Convocation, which also marked the institution’s 50th anniversary, Wike accused members of the coalition of spreading lies and promoting division in a bid to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the coalition’s only agenda is to unseat the president without offering any concrete alternative or proven leadership record.“These politicians have spent most of their lives in public office, yet they have nothing substantial to show for it,” Wike stated.
“Rather than contribute to nation-building, they now congregate to tear the country apart with propaganda and hate.”He praised Tinubu’s administration for taking bold and necessary steps to reform the country, noting that the benefits of these reforms—such as the recent drop in fuel prices—are beginning to manifest.
“Our country is clearly on a path of recovery. Soon, the results will be undeniable—even to the most skeptical,” he asserted.Wike further warned Nigerians not to be swayed by what he called the “failed propaganda” of the coalition, urging them to remain focused on national unity and development.
“We must resist these purveyors of hate and division who seek to destroy what we are trying to rebuild. Their track records are filled with failure, yet they present themselves as saviors. We know them, and we must reject them.”
