A Nigerian man claiming to be a longtime friend of popular singer Omah Lay has taken to social media to accuse the artist of owing him ₦12,000 — a debt he says dates back to 2014.
The claim was made in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @AsakyGRN, where the man alleges that during their time together in Port Harcourt, Omah Lay borrowed ₦12,000 to invest in the now-defunct Ponzi scheme, MMM.According to him, he was initially reluctant to participate but eventually gave in after Omah Lay convinced him it would be profitable.“He owes me ₦12,000.
Back when we were in the hood, he told me to invest in MMM. I told him I didn’t do things like that, but he said it was working for others. He asked me for ₦12,000, and I gave it to him,” the man stated.He further claimed that he has not been repaid and used the video to call on Omah Lay for reimbursement.
The video quickly gained traction online, drawing mixed reactions. While some users questioned the timing and motives behind the public call-out, others found humor in the situation and mocked the decades-old debt.
