Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has increased the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, raising it from N20,000 to N30,000.
He announced the increment on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members,” Fintiri said. “This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you.”
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to youth development, noting that the allowance raise complements other ongoing welfare measures, including food support and general wellbeing of corps members in the state.
He also revealed plans for a new NYSC orientation camp, stating that preparations were already underway.
Fintiri directed the NYSC State Coordinator to involve corps members with backgrounds in architecture, civil engineering, and quantity surveying in the supervision of the project, giving them an opportunity to contribute directly to its development.
Welcoming the newly deployed corps members, Fintiri described them as vital to implementing key state policies, particularly in the education sector.
He urged them to maintain discipline, engage actively in community development, and interact positively with their host communities.
“As bonafide citizens of Adamawa during your service year, you are expected to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and cultivate healthy interactions,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youths and NYSC Governing Board Chairman, Wali Yakubu, encouraged the corps members to take their orientation course seriously, obey camp rules, and embrace skill acquisition as a path to self-reliance after service.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoro Caroline, applauded the corps members for their discipline and active participation in camp activities.
She commended Governor Fintiri for his consistent support, describing him as a “visionary leader and a beacon of youth empowerment in Nigeria.”
The ceremony also featured the oath of allegiance administered by the Chief Judge of Adamawa, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, and the presentation of the NYSC journal to the governor.
