Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Bode George, has stated that no single individual can own or control the former ruling party, unlike the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Arise Television on Wednesday, George cautioned PDP members who secretly work for presidential candidates of other parties, warning that such actions will have consequences. He stressed that the PDP is guided by rules and norms that all members must respect.
“There are rules, laws, and red lines you must not cross. You can’t serve two masters—if you honour one, you will dishonour the other. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,” he said.
George criticized members who split loyalty between the PDP and opposition candidates, calling it “laughable.” He noted that such behaviour would not be tolerated in the APC, urging the PDP to enforce discipline by requiring offenders to apologise to the National Executive Committee (NEC) or face sanctions.
He emphasised that the PDP aims to remain a respectable and responsible party capable of managing national resources for the people’s benefit. Comparing the PDP to an “Iroko tree,” George said it is the only well-structured and organized political party in Nigeria where no single person holds control.
