Panic has spread across the Lakowe community in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, after a young skit maker and hairstylist, simply identified as Austin, was brutally murdered by suspected cultists.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 14, when armed men stormed the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers invaded Austin’s residence, dragged him out, and inflicted multiple machete wounds, killing him on the spot. One of his hands was also severed.
A resident, who asked not to be named, recounted the tense moments:
“We heard a disturbance early Thursday morning but didn’t know what it was. Later, we discovered a corpse in the community. It turned out to be Austin, and his hand had been cut off. That was when we realised the noise we heard was connected to the attack.”
Community members revealed that Austin had previously voiced fears about his safety. In fact, he reportedly shared a cryptic message on his WhatsApp status shortly before his death.
“Austin was not only a skit maker but also a talented hairstylist. Many entertainers knew him. Sadly, those close to him said he somehow sensed his death was near because of his WhatsApp status update a day earlier,” another resident disclosed.
The shocking murder has left Lakowe residents in fear, with calls for increased security presence in the community.
