Tottenham Hotspur manager, Thomas Frank, has shared insights into how his side secured a 2-0 Premier League win over reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Brennan Johnson and João Palhinha sealed the victory, leaving Spurs at the top of the Premier League table with maximum points from their first two matches.
Speaking after the match, Frank admitted that the first half was a tough battle, with City enjoying more possession and dominance. However, he credited his players for staying disciplined and capitalizing on their chance
“The first 45 minutes were fairly even, with City a bit on top of us. We scored a great goal. Second half I think we were very good,” Frank said.
The Spurs boss praised his squad’s resilience and intensity in the second half, noting that their tactical approach frustrated City and allowed Tottenham to hit on the counter.
“I’m proud of my players, the performance. I think it was extraordinary. We know it’s always difficult to play at the Etihad,” he added.
The win is seen as a statement of intent for Tottenham, who have started the season strongly under Frank’s leadership.
