Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has reiterated his administration’s determination to sustain the fight against banditry and other criminal activities threatening peace and development in the state.
Speaking in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday after an expanded security meeting with heads of security agencies, Idris commended security operatives for their relentless efforts in confronting armed gangs.
He acknowledged that Kebbi’s border with Niger Republic remains a major security concern, noting that criminal elements often infiltrate through some local government areas to carry out hit-and-run attacks.
The governor explained that security agencies had already mapped out infiltration routes and intensified operations to repel and block the movement of bandits into the state.
According to him, the meeting with security chiefs focused on reviewing strategies and strengthening recent successes in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
Idris stressed that safeguarding lives and property should not be seen as the responsibility of the Federal Government alone. Instead, he called for collaborative efforts from states, local governments, communities, and security agencies to secure Kebbi.
The expanded meeting brought together senior representatives from the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Police, Civil Defence, DSS, Customs, Immigration, NDLEA, Road Safety, Correctional Service, as well as local vigilante groups.
