Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has accused the Dangote Group of failing to keep its promise to sponsor her younger sister, Ruth, for medical treatment overseas.
Ruth was involved in a ghastly accident on August 13, 2025, near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, after being hit by a Dangote truck allegedly driven by an underage, unlicensed driver. The crash occurred just six days after her graduation, leaving her with her left leg amputated and her right leg also at risk.
In emotional updates shared on Wednesday, Phyna disclosed that upon finally seeing her sister in person, she realized Ruth’s condition was far worse than she had initially described.
She revealed that after several discussions with representatives of Dangote Group, the company initially agreed to fly Ruth to India for advanced medical care. However, the family was first asked to move her to Lagoon Hospital, Lagos, and provide a detailed medical report.
According to Phyna, after she submitted the report, the company suddenly backtracked, insisting on seeking further medical opinions before making a final decision. She added that Dangote officials later demanded another report from Lagoon Hospital to confirm that Ruth’s case could not be managed locally.
Phyna expressed frustration, alleging that the Dangote official she had been liaising with has now ignored her messages for over 24 hours, which raised doubts about the company’s sincerity.
The reality star has since appealed directly to Aliko Dangote, urging him to personally intervene to save her sister’s life.
“My sister’s life must not be put at risk. She needs urgent care and it’s beyond what local hospitals can handle. Dangote must keep to their words,” she wrote on Instagram.
