A faction of concerned members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has appealed to the party’s national leadership to step in and prevent what they described as the looming collapse of the party in the state.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna on Saturday, the group’s leader, Adamu Ahmed Dattijo, said recent developments within the party had left them with no option but to raise alarm. According to him, certain individuals are more interested in creating division than strengthening the ADC as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Dattijo alleged that former governor Nasir El-Rufai is running the party like a “one-man show,” sidelining the duly elected Kaduna ADC executive and other respected stakeholders. He claimed that El-Rufai often makes unilateral decisions without consultation, an approach he described as both “disrespectful and destructive.”
“A political party thrives on inclusion, consultation, and loyalty to its structures—not on the whims of one individual or his close allies,” Dattijo stated.
The group warned that if immediate action is not taken, the chances of building a united ADC capable of winning elections and delivering real change to Nigerians could be jeopardized.
They therefore urged the national leadership of the ADC to urgently intervene and restore unity, order, and internal democracy within the Kaduna chapter.
