Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, describing him as one of the finest officers Nigeria has ever produced.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Print, Moses Alao, and made available to GIST9JA on Sunday in Ibadan, Makinde said Arase’s passing represents a huge loss to the country’s security sector.
He noted that Arase was not only a resourceful retired police chief but also a man whose wealth of experience and expertise could have continued to benefit Nigeria in the years ahead.
“Retired IGP Arase’s death will leave a huge vacuum in the security sector, as he was one of the finest police officers in his days of active service. He was also among the retired police chiefs whose knowledge remained relevant and valuable to Nigeria,” the governor stated.
Makinde further recalled his personal relationship with the late Arase, emphasizing how his insights had, on several occasions, been helpful to security management in Oyo State.
