Marc Guehi Set for Liverpool Switch After Undergoing Medical

Liverpool are on the verge of completing the signing of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, with the defender currently undergoing his medical in London on transfer deadline day.

The Premier League leaders agreed a deal worth £35 million, including a 10% sell-on clause. Although Palace initially demanded £40m, both clubs settled after weeks of negotiations.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner had hoped to keep his captain, but with Guehi entering the final year of his contract, the club felt pressured to cash in. Talks about including Liverpool’s Joe Gomez in the exchange collapsed, as the Reds insisted he was not for sale.

Speaking after Palace’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa where Guehi scored a spectacular goal Glasner voiced his frustration, saying the deal broke a promise made earlier in the summer.

“We agreed that Marc would only be sold if a proper replacement was signed. That hasn’t happened, and yet he’s being sold. This isn’t just about me; it’s about giving our fans the best chance in European football this season,” he said.

Palace Line Up Defensive Targets

Palace are now considering alternatives, with links to Ousmane Diomande (Sporting CP), Evan Ndicka (Roma), Jaydee Canvot (Toulouse) and a potential loan for Julio Igor (Brighton).

This signing pushes Liverpool’s total summer spending to nearly £360m, with speculation mounting over a possible £125m move for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, which could set a new British transfer record.

Meanwhile, Arsenal also busy in the transfer market remain firmly in the top three, combining new signings with strong early-season performances as they chase the Premier League title.
