Boxing great Joe Bugner has passed away at the age of 75, leaving the global boxing community in mourning.
According to TMZ, the former heavyweight contender died at his home in Brisbane, Australia, after battling health complications in recent years.
Bugner enjoyed an illustrious career in the ring, securing British, Commonwealth, and European titles. His professional record boasts 69 wins, 13 losses, and 41 knockout victories.
The Hungarian-born fighter, who later became a British and Australian citizen, shared the ring with some of boxing’s all-time greats, including Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
Bugner survived a heart attack in 2014 but had been struggling with dementia in his final years. He spent much of that period in a Brisbane care home, receiving support and treatment.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Bugner, as well as his children and grandchildren.
Tributes have begun to pour in from fans, fellow athletes, and the boxing fraternity, honoring Bugner’s legacy as a resilient and formidable competitor.
