May Yul-Edochie, estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has dragged her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, and US-based media personality, Yinka Theisen, to court over alleged cyberbullying and defamation.
Through her legal team, Graylaw Partners, May accused both parties of publishing false and damaging claims against her on X, Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms. She insisted the posts not only tarnished her public image but also hurt her business interests.
Her lawyers issued cease-and-desist notices, demanding immediate removal of the alleged defamatory content, a public apology, and official retractions. May is also seeking ₦1 billion in damages from Ugwuonye and ₦500 million from Theisen.
Ugwuonye was specifically accused of breaching privileged information he obtained while acting as her lawyer, allegedly worsening the online attacks against her. Theisen, on her part, was accused of amplifying false narratives and encouraging others to spread them.
Both defendants were given a 48-hour ultimatum to comply with the demands or face civil and criminal actions to restore May’s reputation.
