Chief Uche Nnaji, popularly known as Nwakibie, has vowed to rescue the people of Enugu State from what he described as “brutish and inhumane governance.”
Addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters on his return to Enugu on Friday morning, Nnaji lamented the alleged mismanagement of resources flowing into the state from the federal government, insisting that the people of Enugu deserve better.
“It’s unfortunate that a government will demolish institutions and businesses just to build a motor park. Lives were lost because properties were forcefully confiscated without due process and without compensation. With the amount of money coming into this state, Enugu has no business living in excruciating pain,” he said.
Highlighting his recent engagements in Brazil and Japan, Nnaji said both countries had shown examples of how biotechnology and the bioeconomy could be harnessed to lift citizens out of poverty. He pledged to replicate such models in Enugu, pointing to the state’s natural endowments as a springboard for development.
“Enugu State is blessed with coal which is being stolen today. We intend to change that through massive industrialization to better the lives of our people. Enugu is blessed, and we will capitalize on that,” he declared.
Speaking at the event, the state party chairman, Barr. Ugo Agballa, reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for Nnaji, describing him as a tested and trusted leader with an unblemished record.
“Chief Uche Nnaji is a man who has stayed long in the political limelight without any dent or trace of corruption. He deserves all the accolades and support required to transform Enugu,” Agballa said.
The event was attended by party stakeholders, community leaders, and enthusiastic supporters who expressed optimism about Nnaji’s vision for the state.
