The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, of being one of the major setbacks facing opposition parties in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party dismissed Tambuwal’s allegation that President Bola Tinubu was plotting to destabilise the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Morka maintained that the president and the APC were fully focused on governance and had no time to meddle in the internal crises of what he described as “broken opposition parties.”
Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, had earlier alleged in a television interview that Tinubu and the APC were working to undermine opposition coalitions, while promising to rally forces to unseat the ruling party in 2027.
But the APC spokesman described Tambuwal’s claims as baseless, accusing him and other opposition figures of political blackmail. According to Morka, opposition leaders have failed to provide meaningful alternatives and are instead preoccupied with power struggles.
“With nothing of value to offer Nigerians, these opposition elements have turned into political prophets, making empty predictions about 2027 that only point to the crushing defeat that awaits them at the polls,” Morka said.
He further argued that leaders like Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi had failed to provide effective direction for their respective parties, leaving them weak and divided by internal contradictions.
