Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new manager following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo after a fallout with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Postecoglou, 60, was recently sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in June despite guiding the club to a Europa League title—Spurs’ first major trophy in 17 years. However, he was dismissed due to the club’s worst league campaign since 1976/77, finishing 17th.
Announcing the decision, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis expressed confidence that the Australian coach can replicate his trophy-winning success at Tottenham, Celtic, and Yokohama Marinos.
“We are bringing in a coach with a proven and consistent record of winning trophies. His experience at the highest level, combined with his passion to build something special here, makes him the right man to drive our ambitions at Forest,” Marinakis stated.
Forest, currently 10th in the Premier League with four points from three games, will begin their new era under Postecoglou when they face Arsenal on Saturday.
Marinakis added that Postecoglou’s attacking philosophy was a major factor in his appointment, stressing that the club’s ambition is now to challenge the very best and compete for trophies on a consistent basis.
