The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared a striking encounter he once had with a traditional ruler who repeatedly delayed giving his life to Christ before suddenly passing away.
Speaking during a recent lecture at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Pastor Adeboye narrated that he was in his office working on a mathematical problem when God instructed him to write a letter to the ruler. In the message, God told the cleric to remind the chief of His love and forgiveness if he would repent.
Adeboye said he obeyed, wrote the letter, and posted it despite not knowing the ruler personally. Within days, the traditional ruler visited him at UNILAG, where Adeboye urged him to surrender to Christ.
The RCCG leader explained that he continued visiting the chief for three years, but the man kept postponing his decision, always saying, “I will think about it.” Eventually, the ruler suffered a massive stroke and was left unconscious.
According to Adeboye, the man briefly recovered after he prayed earnestly for God to restore him. However, when the cleric made one final appeal for him to repent, the ruler again said he would think about it. Shortly afterwards, he died.
