There was panic in Sweden on Tuesday after the country’s newly appointed Health Minister, Elisabet Lann, collapsed during her first official press conference.
A video of the incident showed that Lann had just finished speaking when she suddenly fainted, causing her lectern to fall. Attendees and government security officials quickly rushed to her aid.
The Minister later returned to the stage and explained that she had experienced a sudden drop in blood sugar, which led to the collapse.
Local media reports confirmed that Lann’s appointment as Health Minister was announced on September 9, following the abrupt resignation of her predecessor, Acko Ankarberg Johansson, a day earlier.
The incident has raised concerns about her health, though officials assured that she has since stabilized.
