Actress Omoborty Describes Comparing Celebrity Weddings as Childish

Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty, has criticized the trend of comparing celebrity weddings, describing it as childish and unnecessary.

In a post shared on Instagram, Omoborty stressed that the size, glamour, or extravagance of a wedding ceremony does not determine the success of the marriage. She emphasized that wealth or social status should not be confused with taste, as each couple has the right to celebrate their union in the style that best reflects their personality.

According to her, some couples prefer simple ceremonies, others extravagant celebrations, while some choose something in between—and all are valid choices. She pointed out that weddings are about the happiness of the couple, not outsiders’ ratings or social comparisons.

Omoborty further cautioned that many couples go into debt just to fund lavish weddings, forgetting that true value lies in the marriage itself, not the event.

She wrote:

“Money can decorate the hall but it can’t decorate marriage. The level of a wedding does not equate to the success of the union. Wealth or no wealth does not determine taste. Comparing weddings and arguing whose is better is childish. A wedding, whether intimate or extravagant, should be the couple’s dream, and no one has the right to water down their joy with comparisons.”
