The Nigerian police have released Declan Ihekaire, who was arrested during a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Lagos State on Monday.
Sources confirmed to SaharaReporters that Ihekaire regained his freedom following public outcry demanding his immediate release.
Ihekaire was reportedly taken into custody while participating in the peaceful demonstration at Iyana-Ipaje in Lagos, calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The #FreeNnamdiKanu movement continues to draw widespread attention across Nigeria and internationally, as supporters demand Kanu’s release despite multiple court rulings ordering his freedom.
