BREAKING: Tinubu Nominates Dr. Bernard Doro as Minister to Replace Nentawe Yilwatda

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a minister-designate in his administration.

Dr. Doro’s nomination is coming as a replacement for Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who was recently elected as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July 2025.

Before his emergence as party chairman, Yilwatda had served in Tinubu’s cabinet as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, a position he held from October 2024 to July 2025.

According to sources in the Presidency, the President’s letter was read during plenary by the Senate President, formally notifying lawmakers of the new ministerial nominee and requesting his prompt screening and confirmation in accordance with constitutional provisions.

If confirmed, Dr. Doro is expected to step into Yilwatda’s former portfolio and continue the government’s ongoing humanitarian and social welfare programs targeted at vulnerable Nigerians.

Political observers say the appointment is part of President Tinubu’s efforts to maintain regional balance in his cabinet following Yilwatda’s transition to party leadership.
