Social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly called out nightlife promoter and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, over his perceived political alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a video that has since circulated widely across social media platforms, VeryDarkMan questioned Cubana Chief Priest’s recent association with the “City Boy Movement,” a slogan linked to supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He suggested that the businessman’s current posture contrasts with earlier sentiments that many supporters believed were tied to advocacy for the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The activist argued that public figures who make political endorsements should demonstrate clear benefits for the people they claim to represent, rather than using such positions to build personal relevance or influence.
According to him, his perception of Cubana Chief Priest has changed because Kanu remains in detention despite earlier narratives that seemed to condition political support on progress regarding the IPOB leader’s case.
VeryDarkMan further stated that his respect for the celebrity entrepreneur would depend on visible outcomes, insisting that political alignment should translate into measurable action rather than symbolism or popularity.
The remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with some users supporting the call for accountability from influential figures, while others criticised the tone of the attack and defended Cubana Chief Priest’s right to hold personal political views.
As of the time of this report, Cubana Chief Priest has not issued a public response to the comments.
