Benue Massacre: Sultan of Sokoto Declares, “Enough is Enough, the Killings Must Stop”.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has strongly condemned the ongoing violence in Benue State, declaring that “enough is enough.

”He emphasized that such senseless killings—irrespective of tribe, ethnicity, or political leaning—have no place in Nigeria and must be brought to an end.

This comes in the wake of a deadly wave of attacks that began on June 14, when armed herders stormed Yelewata in Guma Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of over 300 people.

In his condemnation, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, criticized the failure of security agencies to anticipate and prevent the attacks.

His remarks were conveyed through a statement released by the Secretary-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, titled “Time to Rise Beyond Lamentations as Benue Bleeds Again.

”The statement declared: “Enough is enough. Our collective silence or indifference may only serve to embolden the enemies of peace and national unity in Nigeria.”

“JNI prays to Almighty Allah to comfort the families of the victims and to restore lasting peace and stability in Benue State and across the nation.

“As we grieve with the people of Benue, this moment should prompt a national reflection. We must reject divisive rhetoric and stand united in humanity to declare, ‘No More’ to senseless bloodshed—regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation. Human life is sacred and must always be treated with dignity, as we have consistently emphasized.
