Michelle Obama Reveals Why She’s Glad She Doesn’t Have a Son

Michelle Obama, wife of former U.S. President Barack Obama, has shared her feelings of relief over not having a son, pointing to the unique challenges that come with raising male children.

She shared this revelation during a recent episode of The Light Podcast, alongside her brother, Craig Robinson, and guest Angie Martinez.

Michelle Obama noted that raising a son, particularly one who might inherit Barack’s strong personality, would have posed greater parenting challenges.

“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy,” she said, adding that a son with traits similar to his father’s could have made motherhood more demanding.

For context, Barack and Michelle Obama got married in 1992 and are parents to two daughters — Malia Ann Obama, born on July 4, 1998, and Natasha Marian Obama (popularly known as Sasha), born on June 10, 2001.
