2027: No Talks of Joint Ticket Between Atiku and Obi – Yunusa Tanko

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has clarified that there have been no discussions between Mr. Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding a possible joint ticket for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday, Tanko addressed the speculation, saying:

“That topic hasn’t even come up. People are speculating, but there’s no such talk now.

However, Tanko confirmed that consultations are underway with like-minded political parties and stakeholders.

He emphasized that any future alliance must be guided by national interest, not elite-driven political arrangements.

Tanko also noted that the movement is currently focused on building a broad-based coalition rooted in integrity, inclusiveness, and a commitment to serving the Nigerian people.

Tanko further stated that Peter Obi would be willing to serve only one term if that becomes a requirement under a coalition agreement, emphasizing that Obi is a man who keeps his word.
