The Labour Party in Enugu State has officially joined the growing coalition movement championed by Peter Obi and supported by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major boost in the drive toward a united political front for the 2027 elections.
In a statement dated July 3, 2025, the acting chairman of the party in Enugu, Chief Kingsley Ugwu, confirmed the new alliance, stating: “Labour Party Enugu State has officially embraced the coalition to contribute to the movement for achieving a better Nigeria, working together with our principal, Peter Obi.”
The party emphasised that while it remains a committed member of the Labour Party, it recognises the need for unity and collaboration in achieving national transformation.
“We recognise the importance of collaboration and unity in pursuit of our shared goals,” the statement noted.
As a first step in implementing this new direction, the party revealed that the ADC agenda would now be actively promoted across all 160 wards in the state.
“We are excited to announce that we can now begin advertising the ADC agenda across all 160 wards in Enugu State.”
The coalition, seen by many as a strategic response to growing dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s administration, continues to gain momentum as disillusionment deepens among Nigerians grappling with economic hardship, insecurity, and institutional decay.
According to the letter signed by Ugwu, the initiative seeks to “promote our vision for a better Nigeria and engage with our communities on the issues that matter most.” The statement added that the coalition hopes to build a brighter future through cooperation and grassroots engagement.
Observers say this endorsement reflects growing support for Peter Obi’s leadership and the push for a truly people-driven alternative to the current regime, which many accuse of worsening the country’s woes.
The statement concluded with a call for participation: “We look forward to your support and participation in this effort.”
The development marks a significant shift in Enugu’s political landscape and adds momentum to what appears to be a rising third-force movement poised to challenge the status quo.
