In a move that marks a pivotal step in his senatorial ambition, Chief Azuka Okwuosa (Chinyelugo Oraifite), a leading contender for the Anambra South Senatorial seat in the upcoming August 16th bye-election, has officially submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja.
The submission ceremony was witnessed by a host of political allies and key stakeholders within the APC, including Chief Owelle Mbaso and Dr. Justin Ogoo Nwankwo — both Senior Legislative Aides to the President of the Senate — alongside Chief Ozomena Unegbu (APC Stakeholder, Orumba South) and Hon. Dr. Chinedu Onyemeai, the party’s 2023 House of Assembly candidate for Nnewi South.
Chief Okwuosa’s documentation was received and reviewed by the APC National Organising Secretary, His Excellency Dr. Suleiman M. Argungu, who confirmed that all documents met the party’s guidelines and requirements.
Dr. Argungu commended Chief Okwuosa for his loyalty, diligence, and consistency within the party, describing him as a man of integrity. He also paid tribute to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, whose death created the vacancy, noting that the APC remains committed to reclaiming the seat in his honour.
“We believe Anambra South will remain under the APC,” Argungu stated. “The legacy of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah must continue with a worthy successor, and Chief Okwuosa has proven himself as one of our most reliable hands.”
In his response, Chief Okwuosa expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership, reaffirming his commitment to grassroots engagement, consultation, and people-oriented politics.
“I will continue to consult widely and campaign deeply at the grassroots level. My duty is to serve, and I believe with God’s help and our people’s support, APC will reclaim the mandate in Anambra South,” he said.
The mood among supporters was jubilant as chants of “Chinyelugo!” filled the APC secretariat, reinforcing confidence in Chief Okwuosa’s candidature.
With this formal submission, Chief Okwuosa’s senatorial journey moves into full gear as the APC prepares to battle other contenders in what promises to be a decisive electoral contest in Anambra South.
Anambra South is rising and the APC is ready to lead once again.
