Waterrrrrrr, e nor dey Enugu!
We can all confess that right now, somewhere in Uwani, two sisters are trekking to fetch or buy water from a neighbouring street.
Somewhere in Ogui, a young man is using a wet towel to clean his armpit before going out because he can’t afford to bath everyday.
In many places in Enugu, people are praying that the dry season will be a short one.
The water crisis is terrible. We keep hearing explanations of how dry the ground is and how the coal deposits makes it difficult to get water.
But does that mean that there is no solution especially as Enugu has different bodies of water from which potable water can be harvested?
How does Qatar do it? How is Rwanda doing it?
We must move away from people who love to give excuses and support those who bring innovative and resolute solutions to our problems. We need a compassionate and effective government.
From stopping the corruption in the water corporation to bringing the technical solutions needed, Frank Nweke Jr has laid out a solid plan to make water available to majority of residents in Enugu State.
He says it is possible within 12 months and tells us how.
