Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has categorically denied rumours of plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor described reports suggesting a potential alliance or defection to ADC as completely false and misleading.
“Our attention has been drawn to media reports and inquiries suggesting Governor Adeleke’s impending defection to the ADC or an alliance with its key members ahead of 2026. These claims are baseless and unfounded,” the statement read.
Rasheed emphasized that Governor Adeleke has no existing or planned affiliation with ADC and remains firmly rooted in the PDP, under which he will contest for re-election.“Firstly, the Osun PDP has already declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid—there is no alliance with ADC. Secondly, Governor Adeleke has no association with any ADC figure.
He remains a proud PDP member and will contest and win under the PDP platform,” he stated.He attributed Adeleke’s growing support base to his outstanding performance in office, noting that the governor’s leadership has earned him the trust and loyalty of the Osun electorate.
“Governor Adeleke enjoys widespread support due to his remarkable achievements in governance. The people of Osun are committed to continuity, and they are ready to return him to office in 2026 to continue his development-driven leadership,” Rasheed added.
He further urged PDP members and supporters across the state to stay focused and continue strengthening the party’s structures at all levels in preparation for the upcoming election.
