A fire outbreak on Tuesday ravaged a container shop located near Mobil Filling Station along Ring Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, destroying goods estimated to be worth millions of naira.
According to eyewitness accounts, the shop was stocked with various items, including lubricant oil, which were completely consumed by the blaze. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident.
Confirming the development, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, stated that firefighters responded promptly and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby filling station and other shops.
“The fire only affected the container shop and the lubricant oil inside it,” Akinwande said. “Thanks to the swift action of our firefighters, adjacent properties, including the Mobil station, were saved from the inferno.”
An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to follow.
