Santos captain, Neymar, has expressed deep disappointment after his team suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Vasco da Gama on Sunday at the Estádio do Morumbi.
Goals from Piton, David, Philippe Coutinho, Rayan, and Tchê Tchê sealed a resounding victory for Vasco, leaving Neymar and his teammates helpless throughout the encounter.
Reacting after the match, the Brazilian star did not mince words, describing the result as a “disgrace.”
“We were so poor. It was a disgrace. The fans have every right to criticise and insult us today,” Neymar said, as quoted by The TouchlineX.
“It’s unacceptable. I feel ashamed. I had never experienced anything like this in my career.”
Santos will look to recover from the heavy defeat when they face Bahia in their next league fixture on Sunday.
