Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will meet in Gusau, Zamfara State, this weekend as part of preparations for the party’s upcoming National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
A source within the PDP’s National Working Committee revealed that the governors are expected to arrive in Gusau on Friday, with the main session holding on Saturday.
According to the insider, discussions will focus on ensuring a smooth convention, resolving internal disputes, and uniting all factions of the party.
“The Ibadan convention is crucial to the future of the PDP. Our leaders have resolved to explore political solutions where necessary but will not hesitate to enforce decisions using party structures if required,” the source said.
The insider expressed confidence that the convention will hold as planned and strengthen the PDP’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the aim of reclaiming power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the faction loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has reportedly rejected the outcome of the Southern Leaders’ Zoning Consultative Meeting held in Lagos earlier in the week, signaling possible hurdles ahead of the November convention.
