Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has undergone an unusually comprehensive set of medical examinations at AC Milan ahead of his proposed move to the Serie A club.
According to GIST9JA, Milan have reached an agreement with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen to sign the forward on an initial loan deal worth €5 million, with an option to make the transfer permanent for €25 million.
Boniface, 24, arrived in Italy on Friday and immediately visited the club’s facilities, the Italian Olympic Committee, and the Galeazzi Hospital in Milan for detailed assessments. Reports from Football Italia indicate that further tests are scheduled for Saturday.
The thorough checks are understood to be linked to Boniface’s history of injuries. The Super Eagles star previously underwent surgery for ligament damage in March 2019 and December 2020. He also suffered muscular setbacks on two separate occasions last season.
AC Milan are keen to ensure the striker is fully fit before finalizing the deal, as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the new Serie A campaign.
