Police Recover Stolen Toyota Highlander in Abia, Arrest Suspect

The Abia State Police Command has announced the recovery of a stolen Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number BRR667RM, and the arrest of a suspect linked to the crime.

The suspect, identified as Emeka Edwin Chukwuma, a native of Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, was apprehended in connection with the stolen vehicle.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, explained that the vehicle was recovered on August 22, 2025, by operatives of the Scorpion Squad following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

According to the police, the case is connected to a vehicle theft initially reported in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in 2022, which was later suspected to have been relocated to Abia. Acting on credible intelligence, the Scorpion Squad tracked and recovered the SUV.

Chinaka added that the rightful owner of the vehicle has been contacted, while investigations remain ongoing to unravel other details surrounding the case and possible accomplices.
