Charly Boy Slams Deji Adeyanju Over Bribery Allegations Against Peter Obi

Veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has criticised Nigerian lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, for repeatedly accusing Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of bribery and fraud.

GIST9JA recalls that Adeyanju has, on different occasions, alleged that Obi tried to bribe him during the last general elections. He claimed the former Anambra governor once invited him for a private discussion and allegedly offered him a brown envelope containing money, which he said he rejected. Adeyanju also insists he has evidence to back his claims.

Reacting to these allegations, Charly Boy dismissed them as lies, accusing Adeyanju of being an errand boy for political “paymasters.” In a strongly worded post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the activist defended Obi, describing him as one of the few Nigerian leaders who still give hope to millions of citizens.

Charly Boy, writing in Pidgin English, said Adeyanju was only seeking clout and warned that his actions could have legal consequences. He compared him to someone “selling himself for 30 pieces of silver,” insisting that attempts to drag Obi’s name “into the gutter” would not succeed.

According to him, while Obi continues to inspire Nigerians with the possibility of a better country, people like Adeyanju are busy promoting “money politics” at the expense of truth and integrity.
